In 2022, the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on Technology Transfer/Information Exchange between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Czech Republic announced cooperation in the field of R&D between the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). This cooperation is aimed at supporting joint R&D projects focused on specific outcomes in the field of applied research, that is, they will lead to new findings, innovative solutions, skills and capacity development for the production of new, high-tech and significantly improved products, processes and services. Beneficiaries are expected to develop new products and R&D results that would be applied to solve the current challenges that both countries are facing. Moreover, these results shall be commercialised by private-sector companies.
On November 30, 2022, the PIC-NASENI announced a list of 30 project proposals shortlisted for funding after the evaluation and scoring process had been finished. These funded projects shall be run by consortiums consisting of R&D organisations based in the Czech Republic on one side, and R&D organisations based in Nigeria on the other side.
You can find the enlisted projects here.
The PIC-NASENI thus invites R&D organisations in the Czech Republic to express interest in partnering with any of these enlisted projects to complete the project consortiums. This collaboration is expected to involve the exchange of technical know-how, and provision of technology solutions and will serve as a pathway for the Czech organisations to access the Nigerian market; the most populous and largest economy in Africa. No financial contribution is expected from the Czech organisations, project funding will be provided by PIC-NASENI. To find potential partners for those projects PIC-NASENI has decided to organise a networking webinar. The webinar will take place on the 18th of January at 9:00 AM CET. If you want to participate in the webinar, please register here. After registration, the participants will receive a link for the webinar one day ahead.
